How to add a Pop Up

Pop Ups are a flexible way to share urgent updates, understudy announcements, or special event messages with your audience as soon as they access your digital playbill. Here's how to add and configure a Pop Up in Step 7 of the Marquee Builder.

Step 1: Accessing the Pop Up Section

In the Marquee Builder, navigate to Step 7, then open the Pop Up section.

Step 2: Activate Your Pop Up

Toggle the “Activate Your Pop Up” switch to turn the feature on.

  • This enables the Pop Up to appear when someone opens the Marquee.

Step 3: Choose Your Pop Up Type

Select which type of Pop Up you want to use:

  • Understudy Only – For performances where an understudy is stepping into a role.
  • Special Event Message – To share event-specific info like post-show discussions or announcements.
  • Both – Use this option if you need to include both an understudy and a special event message.

For this tutorial, we’ll proceed with the Both option.

Step 4: Add Understudy Information

Select the Understudy

Choose the understudy from your People list.

  • Their headshot will automatically appear in the Pop Up.

Understudy Message

Write a brief message letting the audience know which role the understudy is stepping into.

  • Example: "In tonight’s performance, the role of Eliza Doolittle will be played by Jane Doe."

Step 5: Add Special Event Message

Upload an Image (Optional)

  • Supported file types: JPG, PNG, or WEBP
  • Maximum file size: 1MB

Enter the Special Event Message

  • Example: “Following tonight’s performance, please stay seated for a post-show talkback with the cast and director.”

Optional Button Link

You can add a link (e.g., to a feedback form or RSVP page) with a custom button label.

  • Example:
    • Button Text: Learn More
    • Button Link: https://theatrecompany.org/events

Step 6: Submit and Edit

Once your Pop Up is ready, click Submit to activate it on your Marquee.

You can make edits later in two places:

  • The Components panel in the Marquee Database
  • The dropdown menu at the top of the specific Marquee page
