How to create Songs & Scenes
The Songs & Scenes section allows you to detail the musical numbers and/or dramatic scenes in your production, giving audiences insight into the structure and flow of the event. This guide will walk you through how to create and organize this content in Step 5 of the Marquee Builder.
Step 1: Accessing the Songs & Scenes Section
In the Marquee Builder, navigate to Step 5 and open the Songs & Scenes section.
You will have two options:
- Create New Songs & Scenes – For adding new content specific to this event.
- Use Existing Songs & Scenes – To reuse a list you've previously created.
For this tutorial, we'll walk through creating new Songs & Scenes.
Step 2: Initial Setup
- The Event Name and Marquee will already be pre-filled.
- Click Next to proceed.
- You’ll see a brief description of how this section works and how it appears in the digital playbill.
Single Act Events:
If your event has no intermission or consists of a single act, select "One Act (No Intermission)" from the Act Number dropdown.
Multiple Act Events:
If your event has two or more acts, you’ll complete a separate form for each act.
- Select the relevant Act Number from the dropdown.
- (Optional) Use the Act Subtitle field to note thematic or setting changes between acts (e.g., “Act II: The Aftermath”).
⚠️ If any one act has more than 25 entries, you will need to submit multiple forms for that act. Be sure to select the same Act Number each time you submit to maintain proper order.
Step 3: Choosing the Act Format
Single Act Events:
If your event has no intermission or consists of a single act, select "One Act (No Intermission)" from the Act Number dropdown.
Multiple Act Events:
If your event has two or more acts, you’ll complete a separate form for each act.
- Select the relevant Act Number from the dropdown.
- (Optional) Use the Act Subtitle field to note thematic or setting changes between acts (e.g., “Act II: The Aftermath”).
Step 4: Entering Songs or Scenes
For each entry:
- Title Input
- Song example: Maria
Scene example: Act I Scene IV
Description Input
- Song example: Tony (character that sings “Maria”)
- Scene example: The Capulet manse, Verona (scene location)
Repeat this process for each song or scene in the act.
🔁 If your act contains more than 25 items, simply submit this form and then return to submit the next batch—again selecting the same Act Number to keep everything in order.
Step 5: Finalizing and Editing
Once you've completed entering all the scenes or songs for an act, click Submit to save the data.
To make updates later:
- Visit the Components panel in the Marquee Database, where you can edit, remove, or re-order your entries.
- You can now repeat the process for any additional acts in your production, if needed.
